Vacuum Fiber Optic Feedthrough

Main features:

  • Fits to any flange type
  • Excellent signal throughput due to single-piece design of the unit
  • Movable cable  to fit its length inside the vacuum chamber
  • Leakage rate better than 5*10-12mbar*l/s
  • Works at temperatures down to 2K  * (special assembly needed)

Description

art photonics’ optical fiber assemblies with vacuum feedthroughs are available in different designs with various fiber types for a broad spectral range from 0.2 to 18µm.

Optical fiber vacuum feedthroughs provide a flexible optical path into a vacuum or high pressure chamber.

For silica fibers the vacuum feedthrough can be delivered for all fiber diameters, from single mode fiber up to 1000 μm core fiber in a UV/VIS/NIR spectral range.

All feedthroughs assemblies work in a pressure range from 10 Bar to 10-7 Torr.

Temperature range depends on the chosen optical fiber. A high temperature version of the vacuum feedthrough is also available with Cu-coated fiber assemblies enabling the device to withstand temperatures up to 600°C.

Silica fiber feedthrough is a sealed fiber piece which is to be mounted into the flange with O- rings and connected with working cables (available separately) at both sides of the flange with SMA splice bushings.

Mid IR Chalcogenide and Polycrystalline fibers (Mid-IR spectra) are not suitable for the jointing with short feedthroughfiber piece because of considerable coupling losses caused by high reflection coefficient. Vacuum feedthrough in this case enables the passing of the entire fiber cable through the flange and allows to move the cable through the flange to adjust the cable length inside the chamber.

Feedthroughs can be manufactured to your specifications including vacuum/pressure tight bundles and fiber optic probes.
